{Kansas City Vaca}
Upon arrival we ate at the T-Rex cafe! They took forever to seat us, but at least they had lot's of cool things to look at to keep us busy! The kids happily ate their meals amongst some pretty awesome dinosaurs. I thought it was pretty cute when Eli asked me why the baby dinosaur wasn't coming to him when he called him.
T-Rex was looking hungry so we thought we'd see if he thought Easton was as delicious as we think he is ;-)
It didn't take us long after checking in to the Great Wolf's Lodge to make our way down to the waterpark. Let the fun begin!
I wasn't sure how Easton was going to like the water, but he loved it. He especially liked trying to copy me and blow bubbles in the water. He stuck his face right in!
Addy and Eli were little fish, Addy especially. I can't believe how much they have both changed since the last time we went swimming. Their favorite things to do at the waterpark were the water slides. Easton and my favorite thing to do was sit in the family hot tub :-)
Ryan's favorite part was perfecting his underwater selfie with our waterproof camera. Raise your hand if you think Ryan looks just a a tiny bit creepy in this photo . . . ha! Love you babe!
Every five minutes a huge bucket of water filled up and then dumped out over the waterpark. By the end Addy was brave enough to stand right below it and let it dump on her! Crazy girl!
When we checked in at the hotel they gave each of the kiddos a pair of wolf ears. They hardly left their heads the remainder of the trip!
After a long day of swimming we wandered our way down to the lobby for story time by Oliver the Raccoon. We found it fitting that Eli took a picture with that bear since that's the way he was acting that night. Phew. He was in a mood!
The next day we had to check out by 11 a.m. but could still swim for the rest of the day. The little man and I stayed in the hotel room until check out time to try to squeeze in a quick nap for him. We were successful :-)
Number one on Daddy's Kansas City Vaca bucket list was eating at Joe's BBQ. A famous restaurant inside of a gas station was definitely a first for us! Supposedly it's the best bbq joint in the country. We would have to agree. Worth. It.
Number one Mommy's Kansas City Vaca bucket list was shopping at Ikea :-) Free child care for an hour and a half, shopping carts that spin on circles, dollar ice cream cones and cinnamon rolls, and 50 cent hot dogs. They just might give Costco a run for their money when they open up shop in St. Louis!
Shopping only to discover they are out of the one thing you were wanting was not on my bucket list. Settling for something else and then getting home only to discover you purchased the wrong one . . . also not on my bucket list! Gah!
Since staying at the Great Wolf's Lodge is a bit pricey we opted to go to a cheaper hotel for the second night. Cheaper, but still the fanciest hotel we've ever stayed in. We decided fancy isn't all it's cracked up to be. No free breakfast and no free internet? What?!
This covered walkway from the hotel to the Crown Center (where all of the activities we did the second day were located) was pretty amazing though!
Kansas City is the headquarters for Hallmark so we took a tour of the Hallmark museum. There was a machine that showed us how gift wrapping bows were made and it even made you a little one to take home with you. It was pretty amazing to watch!
Watching the dancing waters while we waited to get into Lego Land.
We were pretty impressed by Lego Land. You wouldn't believe the structures they have built out of legos! It's insane! All of the pictures below are completely made out of legos.
Easton was a huge fan of this dog and an even bigger fan of the giant pools of lego's for him to crawl back and forth between. He probably spent at least an hour in there.
Addy and Eli's favorite part was probably building cars to race with their daddy and watching a 4d movie
After Lego Land we walked over to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant. We went here just for Eli. The boy loves trains.
What makes this place so fun is that a train actually circles around the restaurant and drops your food off to you! You pick up a phone at your table to place your order and a little while later the train drops it off for you! Inexpensive food that tasted decently good all while being completely entertained is a win in our book!
As I mentioned before Kansas City is the headquarters for Hallmark. Hallmark has an art studio called the Kaleidoscopic that is completely free where kids can come art their hearts out and create so many fun things.
Both Addy and Eli love doing art projects, but Add especially loves it so this one was for her!
They were even able to draw a picture and put it through a machine to make their very own puzzle of their drawing.
Our last stop was a fairy tale land they had set up in the mall. The kids could have spent a good hour running around to all the different areas, but it was getting time to head back home so we didn't stay too long.
We stayed long enough to watch this scene unfold itself . . .
Sleeping Beauty is definitely going to be awake after that kiss!
Residency is long and tiring and it's nice to have had a whole week with our Daddy all to ourselves and nice to have a short get away. This trip was just what we needed and the kiddos were all troopers. By the end we were all tuckered out, Easton especially.
