{The Pettit Pfeiffer and almost Coombs Family Christmas}
Our real Christmas present arrived a whopping five days early when we were reunited with our besties the Pfeiffers!! Best. Gift. Ever. By some miracle the husbands had vacation at the same time so they drove out from Philly to be with us for the week! I was so happy to see them I almost cried and the kids were ecstatic to see their friends again!
Our "twin elves" were so happy to be reunited with one another and had lot's of fun doing silly things. The kids stumbled upon this scene one morning and thought it was so cute and funny :)
Over the next five days we consumed too much yummy food, played, shopped, had an adults only date night to see Hunger Games, went to the children's museum, took a drive down candy cane lane to see the Christmas lights, made lot's of art projects with the kids, watched too many movies, took much needed naps, and stayed up way too late playing games. It couldn't have been a more perfect week!
Actually I take that back, it wasn't perfect because our other besties the Coombs decided to come join the party for a couple of days except instead of being able to hang out with us they were confined to their bedroom because they were all throwing up. It was so sad. They arrived late Tuesday night and headed back home Wednesday afternoon in hopes of not sharing the bug with us :( On the up side, their quarantine worked and the rest of us never did get sick, but we were so sad to not be able to spend more time with them.
We held our second annual Christmas Eve Fondue dinner and it was delish. The kiddies had their own cheese fondue while watching Arthur Christmas.
It's safe to say the kids favorite course was dessert, but who am I kidding, it was mine too!
After fondue we read the Nativity story from the bible and attempted to have the kids act it out. They were a little wound up and crazy, but they had fun doing it.
Mike finished off the night reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and then it was off to bed for these kiddies. After leaving Santa his cookies and milk and sprinkling oatmeal in the front yard for the reindeer of course :) Our Christmas tree was feeling the love this year! Between both families we had a pretty good pile of presents to go under it.
"The children were all nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads."
I couldn't resist sneaking a picture of my babies peacefully sleeping. Even though they were so excited for Santa to come they were too exhausted to have any trouble going to sleep and were fast asleep with in minutes.
Santa did indeed come that night filling their stockings and leaving them their much anticipated gifts.
It was always a tradition in my family growing up to sit on the stairs until my parents told us we could come down. We would then have a mad race down the stairs with the anticipation of rounding that last corner so we could see what Santa brought us. It's one of my favorite childhood memories.
When I asked Eli what he wanted Santa to bring him he excitedly replied, "A Candy Cane!" I seem to remember last year saying all we needed to buy him was a box of candy canes and he would have been happy. Well a year later, it still holds true!
Addy's gift from Santa was her much anticipated dream light and Eli's was a remote control car.
A few of their other favorite gits this year were their roller blades from Grandma Ginny and Grandpa Doug, Umbrella's from their cousins, and scooters from us.
We were all spoiled with lot's of fun gifts for Christmas, but the best gift of all was being able to spend time surrounded by the people we love and remembering our Savior at this special time of year.
"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
