{August This & That}

I'm not going to lie, the month of August is a bit of a blur. Our friends from Iowa, the Cooks, stayed the month with us while they were doing a month long rotation for medical school. Addy loved having her friend Marlee to play with everyday and we went and did lot's of fun things while they were here.

Look at all those blondies! They could pass for cousins!

Our besties the Coombs also came for a visit during that time period and it made for one fun full house! We are so happy they that they only moved only a few short hours away from us for residency so we can still see them!

One of the main reasons the month of August was such a blur is because it was Ryan's first time working the night shift for residency. There was a lot of this going on.

Basically if you wanted to spend time with Daddy you had to take your nap with him ;)

This is how I found Eli one night. Back pack on and fast asleep!

Let me tell you, it was a very, very long 4 weeks and his presence was most definitely missed. He would get home at 8:30 in the morning, attempt to "play" with the kids for a few minutes (this usually consisted of him sitting down and immediately falling asleep), wake up at 3:30 in the afternoon, spend a half hour or so with us, and be out the door for another night by 4:30 p.m. Did I mention how much we really did not like this? We did not. Not one bit. I'm already counting down the number of times he has to do this before residency is over. Only 7 more times . . . yuck!

On a somewhat happier note Addy got in her required doctor's visit before starting preschool. On a less happier note the worst mother of the year award goes to me for promising Miss Addy she didn't have to have any shots. She left with two band-aids on each arm, but on the bright side she is all set for Kindergarten!  She weighed a whopping 32 pounds putting her in the 10th percentile for weight where she has consistently been her entire life, and was 42 inches tall (65th percentile). Long and skinny!

Shots at the doctor always earns you an ice cream cone at McDonald's! Ice cream makes everything feel better right?
