{Week in Paradise Day 4 &5}
Day 4: At Sea
Some people don't like the days where you're at sea. I for one, love them. You are trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean and forced to relax and do absolutely nothing. Isn't that what vacations all about?! We slept in, had a very strange breakfast which consisted of honey nut cheerio crusted french toast (yuck), played some mini golf, ate the most delicious hamburgers ever, listened to the most amazingly talented guy sing and play his guitar all day long, played cards, read a book, and took a nap.
That night we had our first formal dinner which consisted of fancying ourselves up and ordering a couple plates of crab. Yeah, my hair + humidity + water = not so cute. Everyone else was looking beautimous though!
After dinner we went to the comedy show. The comedian was from Utah and had some pretty good Mormon jokes for us all ;) We loved going to the family friendly comedy shows. Hillarious. We then spent the next hour sitting in the smokey karaoke bar watching all of the drunk people sing their hearts out on stage. We also spent the hour searching through the song book trying to get brave enough to go up their ourselves . . . it never happened. I really wish we had though, next time!
Way past our bed time again we returned to our cabin where we proceeded to imitate an elephant and later awoke to the Island of St. Thomas!
Day 5: St. Thomas
I like to play a little game with the above photo. It's called Where's Tearsa?
This wild beast was our excursion for the day and was called the Screamin' Eagle. A 650 HP turbo-charged jet boat! The first 10 or so minutes we cruised around the St. Thomas harbor while the captain told us about the local culture. The next 20 or so minutes were spent doing 180 degree spins, fishtails, and some crazy power break stops that had us all soaked and screaming our lungs out.
They had me nervous about bringing my glasses for fear that they would fly off my head, but after salt water kept pelting me in the eyes I was really wish I had just brought them. The people sitting on the ends definitely got the most soaked. Thank you Ryan! I just hid behind him ;)
Two thumbs up for surviving the wild boat ride!
After our excursion we took a stroll downtown to the flea market to some shopping. On our way we we saw this little guy. Or big guy would probably better describe him. And just after these pictures our camera died. Awesome. After trying to decide what souvenirs we wanted to get we left the flea market with two baby turtles made out of rocks for our littles and then it was back to the boat.
From here on out I can no longer describe to you what animal we are imitating. They got a little interesting . . . monkey with it's arms crossed?
To Be Continued . . .
